  • Information about our ranch bred Top Hand horses: Waldos Top Hand is a ranch horse bred stallion combining the breeding of two cow horse ranches. His sire was the result of the Nebraska Haythorn Ranche’s breeding program, which bred for what they needed; stout cow horses with a good mind and enough bone and athletic ability to get the job done. His dam was a daughter of the black Driftwood bred stallion Drift Chip, owned by the Texas 6666 Ranch. That combined breeding produced Waldos Top Hand. He is unique in that he has always out produces himself. What that means is, that he consistently produces foals with a good mind and big hip, even if the mare doesn’t have either. One of the most important things to have is a horse with a good mind. It makes for horses that are easier to train that you will want to keep. You will find them to be gentle and more safe than other horses. And finally, many of Waldo’s get have found their way into roping competition. He has made a name for himself producing good rope horses over and over. His colts are so good that some people have paid $20,000 or more for one of them. These Top Hand horses we raise will have enough bone and athletic ability to do whatever you need. We raise and train them here in Montana, above 5,000 feet. They are ridden in the mountains and started on cattle. Most of them are black or roan in color. All of our foals will be broke to lead, tie up, load and trim. We have horses of different ages for sale. Don’t miss a chance to breed to this great horse or buy one of his colts. Give us a call if you have a mare to breed or if you are looking for something to buy. Gary & Cindy Mesz
